If you've just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, you're in for one of the best experiences a smartphone can offer. But while it's a great phone to start with, our Galaxy S22 Ultra tips and tricks will ensure you have an even better experience than ever.

Improve video quality

Samsung has spent much of its marketing budget touting the high-resolution recording capabilities of theGalaxy S22 ultra(opens in new tab). The phone can record at an incredible 8K resolution, but that doesn't come out of the box. In fact, the phone doesn't even record in 4K resolution by default - the industry standard for years. If you don't change anything, it will record in a rather soft and ugly 1080p resolution.

Fortunately, this is quick and easy to change. See how to instantly improve your video quality.

  1. open thiscamera app.
  2. To choosevideo modeby tapping or swiping the word "Video".
  3. tap onquality setting iconabove. By default, the icon is "FHD 30".
  4. Change the video quality to something better than FHD 30 (1080p@30FPS). The preferred option isUHD30.
  5. Select for smoother videoUHD60to record in 4K resolution at 60 FPS.

You can also record in 8K, but there are two notable problems with normal use of that quality. Firstly, 8K recording is capped at 24 FPS. This means that all of your footage will look a lot more like film in some ways than it does on a smartphone, but it also means that movement in your videos won't be as smooth.

Second, 8K filming is on the risequiteSpace. You definitely shouldn't consider this quality option unless you have a Galaxy S22 Ultra with 512GB or more of storage.

adjust air commands

One of the coolest things about the Galaxy S22 Ultra's S Pen is that it can do so much more than just writing on the screen. When taking the S Pen out of its holster, you can click the button on the S Pen to open an S Pen command menu. This context menu is full of unique things you can do with the S Pen. While the default menu is great, some of the additional hidden options might be more useful to you.

  1. remove thatpensout of your halter.
  2. Move the pen across the screen andClick the button on the S Pen. Be careful not to touch the screen with the pen tip when clicking the S Pen button.
  3. To chooseAdd toat the end of the displayed list.

Unlock your phone faster

The under-display fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S22 Ultra is fantastic, but you usually have to press the power button first to unlock your phone. This gets annoying very quickly, but there is a quick fix. Samsung's always-on fingerprint feature doesn't always keep the fingerprint icon there - despite the feature's name - but once it's activated, all it takes is a swipe of the screen to unlock the phone.

  1. Opensystem settingsby pulling down the notification bar at the top of the phone and clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner. Alternatively, you can launch Settings from the app drawer on your home screen.
  2. Scroll down and selectBiometrics and Security.
  3. To knockfingerprintsand enter your PIN or password.
  4. make it possiblefingerprint always on.
  5. To chooseShow icon when screen is offDefinition and then select thetap to viewPossibility.

16 things to do with your new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (4)

With your Galaxy S22 Ultra's screen turned off, all you have to do now is tap the screen when picking up the phone and the fingerprint reader will appear.

Alternatively, when this feature is enabled, you can unlock your phone without the screen on. It's a little tricky to get the placement right as there's no physical display, but placing your thumb on the exact location of the fingerprint scanner will unlock the phone.

Find apps more easily

For some reason, the app drawer on Samsung's default home screen isn't sorted logically - not at all. Fortunately, sorting them alphabetically is an easy fix. Finally, you have the home screen for customizing folders and other shortcuts.

  1. Swipe up anywhere on the home screen to open itapp drawer.
  2. tap onthree pointsin the upper right corner to open the floating menu.
  3. To choosesort by.
  4. To choosealphabeticalfrom the list.

Now your app drawer will be sorted alphabetically automatically. All newly installed app icons are arranged in a logical alphabetical order, making them easier to find.

Also, you might want to remove all folders in the app drawer to keep things as alphabetical as possible. Any icons placed in folders no longer appear in the main group, making finding apps confusing. Deleting a folder in the app drawer does not delete the app. So you can remove all folders and get everything in order quickly!

Get better game performance

Samsung's Game Dashboard is such a great feature that Google officially adopted it in Android 12. add some color

Android 12 introduced a new concept that matches the phone's UI with the background color. It's a little trick that helps make your phone more likeyourphone and nobody else.

Samsung has worked hard to make Bixby a great tool for many things, but overall, Google Assistant is still the top choice for most people. The power button is used to launch Bixby right away instead of opening the power menu. So let's fix those two things and have a better experience.

  1. Opensystem settingsby pulling down the notification bar at the top of the phone and clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner. Alternatively, you can launch Settings from the app drawer on your home screen.

Get a better keyboard

As with many apps and services, Samsung creates its own keyboard that activates when you turn on your phone for the first time. While the Samsung Keyboard has drastically improved over the years, Google still makes the best keyboard you can find. GBoard, as it is called, is a free keyboard that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and easily activated, offering much better text prediction, customization options and even more pleasant haptic feedback while typing.

  1. Download the free GBoard app atGoogle app store(opens in new tab).
  2. AbraGboardafter installed.
  3. Follow the instructions to set GBoard as yourstandard keyboard.

Time for a privacy check

Privacy Dashboard is a relatively new settings panel that helps you better manage your privacy across all the apps you have installed. The privacy dashboard notifies you when an app accesses your camera, microphone, or location, and keeps a historical record of every time an app has accessed any of these permissions.

Whenever you open an app and access your location, camera, or microphone, a small green icon appears in the top-right corner of your screen. This icon will disappear after a moment, but a small green dot will remain while these permissions are still being accessed. So pay attention every time you open an app!
